Abstract

Earthquake and Tsunami Mentawai Islands District occurred on October 20, 2010 has damaged to the condition of coral reefs on the west coast of North Pagai Island and South Pagai. The purpose of this research is to study about  the growth and survival of Acropora intermedia and Porites cylindrica coral with different size after earthquake and  the tsunami. The research method is done by experimental method by attaching coral fragments to artificial reefs are made of cement. Average growth Acropora intermedia and Porites cylindrica for 6 months with a 5 centimeter seedling size of 4.5 mm/month and 3.3 mm/month . Average growth  Acropora intermedia and Porites cylindrica with seed size of 10 centimeters by 6.2 mm/month and 4.9 mm/month . The value of coral survival up to 6 months amounted to 88.6 to 100.0 % . Growth and survival of coral Acropora intermedia higher than the coral Porites cylindrica. Coral growth by 10 centimeter seedling growing faster than the corals of seeds 5 centimeters.
